ok, i'll make the first move then. the attached .ini file works perfect on my extensa 5635z with acfancontrol v 6.6 running. a few details: - programm starts in smart mode and with fanspeedmethod=1 - rpm indicator still doesn't show the accurate values, but at least the figures increase with increasing fan speed... ok for me as i do not care too much about figures... as log as i can see that the fan is running. - buggy temp readings will be ignored if the jump is more than 10 degree centigrade. - security hand-off from smart mode to bios will be at 69 degree. - security hand-off from man mode to bios will be at 69 degree. - with the chosen temp levels in smart mode the extensa remains perfectly silent during normal office / web operation as the fan is constantly running on ultra low rpm. please note that the first two levels have to be below idle temp in order to prevent the fan from beeing switched off. so at this point a great thanks to troubadix for all the work and patience... Hi there! This is the only program that works for my Acer 4520G. I don't know a lot about programming, etc. but is there a way to remove the security hand-off from manual mode? Or at least increase the temperature of the security hand-off? My laptop gets hot very quickly so I go to manual mode and set the fan speed to 7, which keeps the fan speed somewhere around 2600-2700 RPM. Now, when I start 3D-intensive applications and the temperature begins to rise, say above 69 degrees, the program will enter into BIOS mode. Now, I don't think the BIOS is making any sense because it just returns the fan to a lower speed setting of about 500-700 RPM. ???Therefore, the temperature continues to rise until my laptop autoshutsdown. Thanks for any help you can give on this matter!

Working ini for 8940g: CPU sensors at 87 and 88. GPU sensor at 89. (Weird that only 2 sensors for quad core). BiosControlByte: 85. FanControlByte: 94. BiosControlOn: 0. BiosControlOff: 15 Fan levels: Level=40 1 15 0 Level=50 4 15 0 Level=60 6 15 0 Level=65 56 15 0 Level=75 26 15 0 Smart mode of course. Oh and, this ini doesn't trust the Bios so won't hand it over until it's 100oC. With the Bios, my computer keeps overheating. Attachments:

Greetings, I have a Dell M6500 Laptop with windows 7 64 and I'm really strugglin. I run a alot of vm's which the latop handels very. The problem is the heat and the fact that dell's bios never spins the fans more then 50% of their max rpm. When i used the fn+shift 15324 trick and manually set the fans to max the laptop stays much much cooler under extreme loads.
So far Aida64 is the only application that can even detect the fans and their speed...however i can't control with Aida
I just tried ACFanControl and the log kept saying: failed to read FanControlByte from ec failed to read BiosControlByte from ec failed to read FanSpeedByte from ec warning can't read status (possible conflict with other software)
There's no other software running, I don't keep Aida running.
Any ideas?

Hello Troubadix, how about Sony Vaio notebooks? You would definitely make very, very many people *very* happy. I would even bet, that enough people would donate. Especially the F13 series are very nice, very powerful, have very good displays - but a f* annoying fan. In idle mode it just spins far too fast. There is nice "hack" to throttle the fan: press a key and keep a finger on the touchpad - so there *must* be a way to control the fan. Unfortunately there is no known program to do so. I just tried ACFanControl, changed the BIOS hand-over temperature in the .ini and after trying some manual modes, I managed to crash Windows. So it worked, somehow Maybe just other register values in the .ini would help, but I have really no idea where to start. Best regards, Karsten
